1949
George
C. Hall & Sons, Inc. was founded in 1949 by late owner George
C. Hall. The company was originally
called George C. Hall Contractor and started with a small dump
truck, backhoe and one employee. The business was initially based
out of George’s home residence on
Old County Road in Rockland. Around 1953, George moved the location
of the business to the present day MBNA site, off Water Street
in Rockland. Sometime around 1961, George relocated to a garage
on 26 New County Road, Rockland. In 1964 the business was relocated
to 60 New County Road, Rockland where it resided until May of
2006. In May of 2006, the company moved into its new state of
the art office on 190 Pleasant Street, Rockland.
Incorporated

C. Hall Contractor was incorporated in 1980 becoming
George C. Hall & Sons, Inc.
Three
Generations
George’s
two sons, Tim and Jim started laboring in the 1960’s. Tim
became Business Manager in 1972 and held that position until he
became company President in 1993, a position he holds today. Jim
ran a loader until the early 1980’s when he became Safety
Manager. In January 2002, Jim became Vice President of Safety
& Maintenance. George’s daughter Judith Hall Simmons
was a secretary in the mid to late 1960’s.
George’s
twin grandsons, Jamie and Sam Hall are active in the management
of
the company today. They started as laborers in the late 1980’s
and became Foremen when they finished college in 1993. Jamie moved
into the office in 2001 to start up a job-costing program and
work on residential estimating, today he is
the Treasurer of the corporation. Sam became Operations Manager
and Secretary/Clerk in January of 2002.
George
had two other grandsons who worked for the company in varying
capacities, Jason Simmons and John Barbour.

During
the 2006 season, George C. Hall employed approximately 75 full
time employees. The company also employed anywhere from 5 to 10
hired trucks throughout the season. George C. Hall is equipped
with 20 varying size dump trucks, 2 lowbeds, 2 water trucks, a
boom truck and a fleet of pickup and rackbody trucks. The company
owns 14 excavators, 7 dozers, 4 rubber tire backhoes,
9 front end loaders, a grader, 6 rollers, a tracked rock crusher,
a tracked stump/brush grinder, a 7500# hydraulic hammer and various
other pieces needed
to complete the job.
The George
C. Hall management team consists of individuals with over 100
years of combined experience. The President of the Corporation
is Tim Hall, Vice President of Safety & Maintenance is Jim
Hall. The Vice President of Operations and Chief Estimator is
Bill Reinhardt. Bill started with the company in 1977 as a truck
driver. Bill did his undergraduate work in civil engineering at
UMaine and got his masters degree from MIT in civil engineering,
graduating first in his class. Jamie Hall is Residential Estimator
and Treasurer and Sam Hall is Operations Manager and Secretary/Clerk
of the Corporation. Jamie and Sam attained bachelor of science
degrees in Business Adminis- tration from UMaine.

Hall employees 8 fulltime site supervisors and a couple of lead
operators to oversee their projects. Bill Leppanen has been with
the company since 1975 and Bill Manahan has been with us since
1986. The other supervisors bring a wealth of experi- ence from
previous employers and one supervisor started as a laborer and
has worked his way up to his current position.

also has a rock quarry and crushing plant operation. We can crush
rock down to 3/8”. We also crush gravel and asphalt down
to 1”, great materials to finish off your driveways. The
crusher also allows us to make special materials like P-208 for
